Abseiling is a word is derived from the German ‘abseilen’ meaning ‘to rope down’. Descending cliffs or slopes with a rope under control and used in rock climbing, caving, mountaineering and canyoneering.

The sport is also known as rappelling, jumping and roping down. Equipment required includes helmets, boots, gloves, ropes, harness. An exciting yet potentially dangerous sport for inexperienced climbers.
